Brushed wool and cashmere knit, an exceptional material

Brushed knit is one of the most precious materials in the MAX&MOI wardrobe. Renowned for its airy softness and lightness, it embodies the Maison’s artisanal mastery and commitment to quality.Made from the silky undercoat of Hircus goats and some of the finest wools in the world, it is first knitted on traditional machines by experienced artisans, then crafted by hand using a unique know-how.
Hand brushing — a crucial step — is performed gently with natural brushes or plant-based carding tools. This precise gesture brings the fibers to the surface and creates the fluffy, soft, enveloping texture, with the characteristic “cloud-like” touch.

This delicate halo gives MAX&MOI brushed wool and cashmere accessories, skirts, overshirts, and sweaters an incomparable, almost airy feel, along with a subtle warmth that wraps the body without ever weighing down the silhouette.

The sensory charm

of brushed knit

Worn directly against the skin, brushed knit offers an enveloping sensation that no other fiber can match. It naturally retains warmth while allowing the body to breathe, creating a true cocoon of well-being where softness becomes a way of life.
Its slightly blurred texture catches the light and softens the shades — whether pale, milky tones or deeper hues like chocolate or misty gray.

It is this tactile and emotional dimension that makes brushed wool and cashmere knit so special: it captivates both the eye and the touch.

It evokes calm winter mornings, diffuse light, and the serenity of cozy interiors — everything that Maison MAX&MOI strives to express in its collections.

Washing of brushed knit

To preserve the softness and airy structure of your brushed wool and cashmere knit, follow a gentle and controlled washing routine:
• Wash your garment by hand or on the “hand wash / delicate” program, in cold water (maximum 20°C),
• Inside out and in a protective laundry bag,
• Using a wool-specific detergent, without fabric softener,
• With very gentle spinning, limited to a maximum of 500 rpm.

Avoid washing too frequently: brushed knit, thanks to its dense and breathable structure, often only needs to be aired between wears.
If you are not comfortable with home care, you can entrust the maintenance of your brushed wool and cashmere knit to a trusted dry cleaner experienced with these fibers.

Drying, Ironing

& Storage

Proper drying is essential to maintain the volume and lightness of brushed wool and cashmere knitwear.
• Lay your garment flat on a towel,
• Gently reshape it to restore its form,
• Let it dry away from sunlight and any heat source.

If ironing is necessary: iron your brushed cashmere skirt, overshirt, or sweater on the reverse side, with a low heat setting, using a protective cloth (such as a damp cloth), and without pressing, to preserve the brushed texture.

Maison Tips : Pilling & Protection of Your Brushed Knit

Like all natural fibers, brushed knit may develop small pills, especially during the first wears. This is normal and part of the natural behavior of cashmere and brushed wool.

To remove them:
• Use a cashmere comb or a soft brush,
• Always follow the direction of the knit,
• Use slow and gentle movements to avoid breaking the fibers.

To preserve the beauty of your brushed knit over time, air it between wears rather than washing it frequently, and store it flat in your wardrobe.

Brush your women’s cardigan, skirt, or sweater in brushed cashmere and wool dry once or twice per season to revive the fiber’s loft and restore its cloud-like appearance. With proper care, your brushed cashmere and wool pieces will retain their softness, lightness, and airy halo season after season, faithful to MAX&MOI’s craftsmanship and quality standards.
