Some summers linger: they fade slowly, in the softer light of September. At MAX&MOI, we love this in-between, this suspended moment when the warm season doesn't truly end, but simply carries on differently.

That is the whole art of mid-season. Never rushing. We keep the last pieces of summer for a few more weeks, before pairing them, little by little, with the first Autumn-Winter arrivals. A wardrobe that glides naturally from one collection to the next, carried by noble materials – linen, silk, cashmere, cotton denim – and a look that always stays true to itself.

Summer materials

that transcend the seasons

The finest summers always leave something behind. The sweet scent of the holidays, that sun-kissed glow of long summer days, a few grains of sand forgotten at the bottom of a beach bag and, above all, those materials we loved wearing all summer long.
‎‎
But if we don't put them away, it's because they still have much to offer. These summer materials lend themselves just as well to autumn: linen, a natural temperature regulator, holds in just enough warmth as the air turns cooler; ultrafine cashmere warms the silhouette as summer's heat fades and autumn reveals itself; silk, fluid and resilient, caresses the skin and lights up the season's silhouettes. So many noble fibres the Maison chooses to last, well beyond the holidays – summer materials that the arrival of cooler days only reveals in a different light.

How to wear your summer clothes in autumn?

Extending summer is a matter of pairings. Back-to-work doesn't call for changing everything: it invites us to mix and match, to let those summer pieces we especially love speak with the season's first arrivals.

The linen shirt is one of those you don't part with so quickly. In early autumn, wear it open over a linen t-shirt or tucked into raw denim jeans, finished with a pair of sneakers – the weekend outfit par excellence, made for Sunday markets and long brunches with friends. Then, as the cool weather sets in, it slips effortlessly under a cashmere sweater, in a casual-chic spirit that loses none of its summery nonchalance.

Crochet knit finds its ideal moment in mid-season: openwork, it lets the air circulate while offering, thanks to its cashmere construction, a comforting warmth. Wear it in a full bohemian look, over a floaty long skirt and flat sandals, for a radiant silhouette that keeps the holiday spirit alive. And to take the edge off the first chill without sacrificing any of its lightness, layer it over a cotton top or a cashmere t-shirt, in a lovely play of transparency.

The long silk dress still carries the memory of balmy summer evenings. Yet it hasn't had its final say: warm it up with a leather jacket and cowboy boots for a bold, feminine and rock contrast that reveals it in a new light at the dawn of mid-season.

The silk top plays the card of effortless elegance. Slipped under a blazer, it creates a polished back-to-work look. And to liven up those often understated return-to-office outfits, bet on colour: vibrant shades that accompanied us all summer long and bring a luminous touch to the first days of autumn.

Summer accessories to adopt in mid-season

Accessories are often what set an outfit apart, and mid-season is no exception. The fine cashmere bandana – like our ALY style – worn as a sarong over a swimsuit at the height of summer, reinvents itself: draped over the shoulders or knotted around the neck, it becomes the perfect accessory to ease gently into the change of season.

The silk scarf naturally dresses up autumn outfits and slips into the hair as a headband, in a very sixties spirit. Little silk squares can also be worn as a pussy-bow over a shirt or a women's cashmere sweater, for an unabashed preppy-chic touch.

At MAX&MOI, every fibre is chosen for its nobility and its lasting quality. A fine material doesn't wear out: it develops a patina, gains character, and endures through the seasons as through the years.

The office wardrobe, back-to-work time

Summer still lingers, but September already marks the moment to get back into the swing of things: the return to the office is drawing near. And with it, the desire to pick up the thread of daily life without giving up any of the gentleness of the weeks gone by.

The silk shirt stands out as an obvious choice. A timeless piece, one of those that doesn't really belong to any season, it can be worn in summer as in winter, according to your mood and your layers. It's THE great classic of the women's wardrobe, the safe bet with which you never put a foot wrong. Be bold and wear it as a full look paired with fluid silk pants, or tuck it into a pencil skirt for a more structured silhouette. This back-to-work season, embrace the oversized silk shirt too, worn over cropped trousers for a sharp, contemporary look, Parisian it-girl style.

In the same spirit, the long silk skirt makes its way to the office with flawless elegance. Paired with a signature knit in cashmere and silk, it creates a very office-ready look, at once fluid and impeccably chic. Looking for something less formal? A simple cotton top is enough to make it more relaxed, without losing any of its refinement. Wear it with pretty pumps to define the silhouette – then, on leaving the office, while the weather is still mild, keep the holiday spirit alive by swapping heels for flat sandals, for an impromptu stroll.

BELLE the monogram jeans, timeless must-have

If there were just one piece to remember for this back-to-work wardrobe, it would be BELLE. With its MAX&MOI monogram motif – those two inverted M's forming a heart – embroidered all-over, our new signature jeans, inspired by the codes of contemporary luxury, complement every silhouette with modernity and elegance. Its cotton fabric, with its authentic grain, offers that structured drape and comfort that make all the difference: jeans you'll never want to take off, from morning to night and from one season to the next.

The denim is, by nature, the transitional piece par excellence. It's worn all year round, reinvents itself through pairings and moves through the seasons without ever going out of style. In early autumn, the monogram denim jeans pair quite naturally with a linen t-shirt or a silk shirt, then with a cashmere sweater or a raccoon knit poncho – finished with a pair of ankle boots – as soon as the air turns crisper.

Driven by Emma Lederer, MAX&MOI reinvents denim with that effortless elegance so dear to it. BELLE is its new icon. Alongside it, the denim makes up a whole new, distinctly contemporary wardrobe: denim-and-knit patchwork jacket, denim bag, denim bomber enhanced with Furever faux fur...

Reinventing a basic as familiar as the jean is a real challenge. With BELLE, I wanted jeans that are comfortable for everyday wear yet distinctly singular, a piece you wear without ever tiring of it and make your own instantly.

AVALANCHE, the first chapter of Autumn-Winter 26

The new AVALANCHE collection settles in without haste, as the sunny days gently take their leave, before gradually giving way to autumn. The colours, first of all, evolve little by little. Summer's bright shades give way to softer nuances – beige, sky blue, light grey – and deeper ones – hazelnut, mocha, bordeaux – that warm the silhouette as the days grow shorter. Then come the plays of layering, the whole art of mid-season. A fine knit under a cashmere jacket, a silk shirt over a fluid top, a scarf added on: layers to adjust according to the weather, from morning to night.

Finally, the first winter materials make a subtle appearance. Furever faux fur trims the collar of a denim jacket or elevates a MAX&MOI knit, for a first step towards the cold season, without rushing anything.

FAQ: How to dress between summer and autumn?

How to adapt your wardrobe when summer lingers and autumn sets in? Here are our answers to the most frequently asked questions for moving through mid-season in style.

Collapsible content

Can you wear linen in autumn?

Yes. Linen is a naturally temperature-regulating fibre: it cools when it's hot and holds in a little warmth when the air turns cooler. In early autumn, it's worn layered, under a knit or a jacket, and pairs with warmer materials like denim or cashmere.

Which colours to choose for the summer-to-autumn transition?

Early in the season, opt for shades that enhance a still sun-kissed complexion: bright tones inherited from summer, but also soft nuances like sky blue. As the tan fades, move towards deeper colours – hazelnut, mocha, bordeaux. The right instinct: keep a neutral base and add just one touch of colour at a time, to let your wardrobe evolve gently, without renewing everything.

How to style denim jeans for back-to-work season?

Jeans are the ideal transitional piece: they're worn all year round and adapt to every occasion. Straight or flared jeans lend themselves easily to a structured back-to-work look, with a women's silk shirt and loafers. A loose-fitting style pairs happily with an oversized cashmere knit and sneakers, for a more relaxed look. In every case, choose quality denim with a clean drape that moves through the seasons without losing its shape.

Which materials to favour for an elegant back-to-work look?

Choose natural materials: silk for fluidity, cashmere for warmth, linen for its breathable properties and denim for versatility. The whole art lies in pairing them – a fluid piece with a more structured one, a light fibre with a more enveloping knit – for a refined, easy-to-wear wardrobe that lets you put together back-to-work looks with effortless elegance.
