Some materials only get better with time. Leather is one of them. At MAX&MOI, the craft of fine hides is a heritage that dates back to 1925, when Max Lederer, a furrier for the greatest Parisian Maisons, first laid his hands on exceptional skins. A century later, this unconditional love for leather remains deeply rooted in the Maison’s history — every women’s leather jacket, every lambskin piece carries this ancestral savoir-faire.

Couture leather, designed at the intersection of body and movement. A leather of timeless elegance, imagined by a woman—Emma Lederer, the Maison’s Creative Director—for women.

Crafted in France and Europe from naturally supple, smooth, and exceptionally comfortable lambskin, every MAX&MOI piece is made to follow the silhouette, accompany every gesture, and stand the test of time. This level of care is precisely why maintenance matters: taking care of your leather pieces means preserving the mastery of the material that makes them unique.

Our expert advice Our expert advice

Lambskin is a living material. It breathes, it evolves, it remembers the woman who wears it. That is why caring for luxury leather pieces is not a constraint — it is an extension of the story of a garment designed to accompany you for years.

‎ ‎

Well-maintained leather softens, develops a patina, and gains character over time. It does not age : it matures. A few simple gestures, done regularly, are enough to preserve the suppleness, shine, and beauty of your MAX&MOI leather jackets — allowing them to move through seasons without ever losing their elegance.

How do you care for

a leather jacket on a daily basis?

For women’s leather jackets, coats, or leather trouser, a few simple actions help preserve the quality of the hide over time.

Between wears, simply let the piece air out in your wardrobe. If needed, gently remove dust with a soft, dry cloth.

In case of stains, lightly dab the area with a clean, damp cloth, do not rub, to avoid marking the leather. Never use solvents, alcohol, or detergents directly on the material. Let it dry naturally in the open air, away from any heat source. In general, avoid contact with cosmetics, perfumes, and oily substances, which may permanently stain or damage the leather.

Nourish & protect

To preserve the suppleness and radiance of lambskin, you may occasionally apply a leather cream or balm. One to two treatments per year are enough to keep the leather nourished and prevent cracking. Using a waterproofing spray can also protect your leather jacket or trousers from humidity and everyday marks. Always choose colourless products designed for soft, delicate leathers.

Professional cleaning

Lambskin garments should not be machine washed. For bomber jackets, leather jackets, sleeveless styles, or any luxury leather piece, we recommend entrusting them to a leather specialist or a dry cleaner experienced with delicate materials.

They will adapt the cleaning process to preserve the exceptional quality of the leather and ensure your MAX&MOI piece retains its full beauty.

Exception: the stretch leather Perlegging

An iconic piece of the Maison since 2013, the stretch leather legging designed to sculpt the silhouette and adapt to all body shapes, has a rare feature in the world of leather: it can be hand washed or machine washed on a delicate cold cycle, inside out. Storage

To maintain the shape of your pieces, hang leather jackets and coats on a suitable hanger to preserve the shoulders.

Store them in a cool, dry place, away from direct light and heat sources.

Avoid plastic garment covers, which prevent the leather from breathing; instead, opt for a fabric cover.

The lambskin selected by MAX&MOI is crafted to last. It is a living material: the more you care for it, the more beautiful it becomes. Regular maintenance and professional cleaning once or twice a year are enough to preserve its softness and radiance for many years.

Can you machine wash a leather jacket?

No. Unlike the MAX&MOI Perlegging, made from stretch lambskin specifically designed to be machine washable, leather trousers, coats, bombers, and jackets should never be machine or hand washed. We recommend entrusting them to a professional leather specialist.

How to remove a stain from lambskin leather?

Gently dab the area with a clean, slightly damp cloth, do not rub. Let it dry naturally in the open air, away from heat sources. If the stain persists, take the piece to a leather professional.

In general, avoid prolonged contact with water, cosmetics, perfumes, and oily or alcohol-based substances, which may alter the color and suppleness of the leather. If your piece gets wet, gently blot it with a soft cloth and let it air dry away from heat.

How often should leather be nourished?

One to two treatments per year with a leather cream or balm are enough to maintain suppleness and shine. If exposed frequently to rain, a waterproofing spray can be applied at the beginning of the season.

How to store a leather jacket when not worn?

During periods of non-use, hang your jacket on a wide, padded hanger and store it in a breathable fabric garment bag — never plastic. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Leather is a living material : it needs air.

How to store leather trousers or leggings?

Leather trousers and leggings can be folded carefully and stored flat. They can also be hung on padded clip hangers.

Does MAX&MOI lambskin develop a patina over time?

Yes and that is one of its most beautiful qualities. Sourced from the finest tanneries and crafted in Europe through a savoir-faire passed down over four generations, MAX&MOI lambskin becomes softer and more characterful over time. Each piece becomes unique and tells the story of the woman who wears it.

When to wear — and when to store — a leather jacket?

The good news: almost never. Leather jackets, bombers, modern cuts, sleeveless styles — the leather jacket is a true wardrobe chameleon. It adapts to countless outfits and can be worn almost all year round. In spring and autumn, it layers perfectly over a fine cashmere knit or cardigan when temperatures change. In summer, it works with a linen T-shirt or silk top, and can be thrown over the shoulders on cooler evenings. In winter, it slips under an oversized wool coat or FUREVER faux-fur for an extra layer of style.

From casual to minimal to couture, this essential piece breaks up simple looks, adds character, and transitions effortlessly from office to evening. The real question is not when to store your leather jacket, but when to go without it.
